Prunus maritima
A native plum that resides along the coast of the Northeast. Typically growing in very sandy soils, it is drought-tolerant and salt-tolerant. A very low-maintenance plant that provides small fruit appreciated by people and wildlife alike. Its suckering growth habit makes it a great choice for hedgerow and windbreaks. This tree hosts the larvae of the Coral Hairstreak, Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, and Red Spotted Purple.

Habitat: Will thrive in poor, dry soils. Do not overwater. Full sun, but will tolerate partial shade.
Growth: 6 ft tall, 4 ft wide at maturity.
