Thinleaf Sunflower (Potted)

Thinleaf sunflower is a native perennial valued for its bright yellow blooms and extended flowering period that brings color and activity to planting designs late in the season. Offered as potted stock grown in root-prune pouches, it can be planted through the growing season when conditions allow, making it well suited for meadows, woodland edges, and habitat-focused landscapes.

Botanically known as Helianthus decapetalus, this species produces abundant yellow flowers from summer into fall, creating a long-lasting display in both naturalized and designed plantings. Native across the Midwest, Northeast, and Southeast, it is widely used for its ornamental impact and ecological function.

Thinleaf sunflower typically grows 3 to 5 feet tall with a spread of 2 to 3 feet, forming a substantial presence in mixed plantings. Flowers can be up to three and a half inches across. It grows in full sun to part shade and can establish in a wide range of soils when planted into a well-prepared site.
