Product Details
Pin oak is a fast-growing tree that offers significant value for landscaping and habitat restoration through its adaptability and stunning fall foliage. We provide this species as bareroot stock, available for planting during the late fall and early spring dormant seasons.
Quercus palustris typically grows faster than most oak species and is noted for its ecological role. It serves as a host to numerous Lepidoptera species, specifically the White-M Hairstreak, Banded Hairstreak, and Gray Hairstreak. In addition to its habitat value, the tree provides vital food for wildlife in wetland areas.
Pin oak is an excellent choice for wetland restoration, riparian buffers, and landscapes with variable moisture. It prefers wet loamy or clay soils but can tolerate both flooding and drier sites. Pin oak reaches a mature height of 60 fr and a width of 50 ft, performing best in full sun to partial shade.
