Purple Lovegrass (Potted)

Purple lovegrass is a warm season native grass valued for its fine texture, airy late-season color, and ability to add movement and softness to open plantings. Offered as potted stock grown in root-prune pouches, it can be planted through the growing season when conditions allow, making it well suited for meadow plantings, erosion-prone sites, and ornamental grass mixes in full sun.

Botanically known as Eragrostis spectabilis, this native species forms dense clumps that spread slowly by rhizomes. In late summer, it sends up delicate flowering stems that create a hazy purple-red cloud effect, persisting into early fall and providing visual contrast in open landscapes across its native range in the Northeast, Midwest, and Southeast.

Purple lovegrass typically grows 1 to 2 feet tall with a spread of 1 to 4 feet, forming low, mounded clumps over time.
