Product Details

Black currants offer gardeners and orchardists a reliable source of tart, flavorful fruit on a manageable shrub. This selection is available as potted stock grown in root-prune pouches, allowing for a flexible planting window throughout the growing season. The root-prune pouch production method supports the transition to the landscape, helping the plant adapt when installed in its permanent location.

The Titania cultivar of Ribes nigrum was bred specifically to resist white pine blister rust, a common issue for the species. Beyond its disease resistance, this variety is recognized for its rapid growth and ease of establishment. The berries are rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, offering a distinctively sour profile that works well in processing or fresh eating.

Black currant shrubs integrate easily into mixed hedgerows, berry blocks, or standalone garden beds. Reaching approximately 4 feet in height and 3 feet in width, it fits well in smaller spaces or intensive plantings. 'Titania' prefers well-drained, loamy soil conditions and yields the heaviest crops in full sun, although it remains productive in partial shade within zones 3–8.

Potted stock provides the advantage of planting when the ground is workable outside of strict dormancy windows. Once in the ground, this shrub is designed to grow quickly and deliver consistent annual harvests. We recommend installing this potted stock into a well-prepared site to ensure long-term vigor.
