Black Chokeberry (Potted)

Black chokeberry has gained recognition as a superfood source while simultaneously functioning as a robust habitat plant for birds and pollinators. This selection is available as potted stock grown in root-prune pouches, allowing for a wider planting window throughout the growing season. The production method supports a fibrous root system, helping the plant transition successfully to the landscape with reduced transplant stress.

Beyond its utility in the kitchen for jams and jellies, Aronia melanocarpa provides three-season interest with distinct spring blooms and colorful autumn leaves. The fruit is notably astringent off the bush but transforms well when processed. In the landscape, the shrub’s tendency to sucker makes it an effective choice for naturalizing areas, though unwanted spread is easily controlled through maintenance.
