Prunus virginiana
Chokecherry is a native, fast-growing shrub that’s hardy and adaptable. Its clusters of white flowers give way to tart, edible fruits. Many birds and mammals eat the fruits and use the shrub as habitat. Chokecherry can form a thicket, which makes it a good addition to hedgerows or as a privacy screen. Chokecherry is a larval host to multiple species of moths and butterflies.
