Witch hazel is a beautiful native tree with bright yellow, fragrant flowers that open in late fall and early winter, providing nectar for moths, gnats and late-season bees. The seeds, which ripen in the summer, are a food source for birds and squirrels. The leaves are a larval host to the Spring Azure Butterfly and numerous moth species. Witch Hazel is used for a wide array of medicinal treatments from stomach ailments to skin irritations and insect bites.

Habitat: Can thrive in moist to dry soil. Part shade to full sun.
Growth: 15-30 ft tall, 15-25 ft wide at maturity.
