Monarda punctata
Spotted Bee Balm, also called Spotted Horsemint, is a native wildflower with distinct yellow-spotted flowers that sit on purple, leaf-like bracts and bloom in the summer. It can thrive in dry, sandy soil and prefers full sun. Like its relative Wild Bee Balm, Spotted Bee Balm is high in the compound thymol and has been traditionally used to treat colds, flus and sore throats. Spotted Bee Balm is attractive to pollinators and also hosts the larvae of various moth species.Â
