Swida amomum
Commonly found on the outskirts of wetlands, Silky Dogwood thrives in soil that is moist and will tolerate standing water. Shrubby, it tends to create thickets and so can be effective when used to stabilize soil in riparian areas. It has unique fruit that changes from white to blue and are consumed by various bird species. Larval host for Spring Azure and Summer Azure.

Habitat: Moist, well-drained soils. Tolerates standing water. Full sun to part shade.
Growth: 6 ft wide, 10 ft tall at maturity.
