Amelanchier canadensis ‘Rainbow Pillar’
A plant of many names, Serviceberry is also known as Saskatoon, Shadblow Serviceberry, Shadbush, and Juneberry. It is a native understory shrub whose early spring flowers give way to juicy, purple fruits in the summer that can be eaten raw or cooked into jams and baked goods. Planting a Serviceberry is sure to offer delights to humans and wildlife alike.Â
Rainbow Pillar® was selected from a group of seedlings for its form, which is upright and symmetrical. It is resistant to many diseases that typically affect serviceberry, but the tradeoff is decreased fruit production. It is also noted for particularly showy fall foliage.
