Rubus Fruticosus ‘Apache’
This desirable cultivar of the European blackberry was released by the University of Arkansas in 1999. In addition to providing delicious fruit for humans, birds, and other wildlife, the flowers provide forage for bumblebees. Like all brambles, blackberries provide good nesting sites for birds. It is known for its high yields and, of the thornless blackberry cultivars, produces the largest fruit. Canes are upright and typically do not need support. Self fertile and late-ripening, harvest begins in July. The Apache blackberry is resistant to orange rust. Plant Patent #11865.
