Platanus occidentalis
This floodplain tree features a dark brown bark when young that develops into a distinctive multi-colored, pale, flaky bark that looks beautiful in a landscape. Sycamore are great for riparian trees with extensive roots and a fast growth rate. They support up to 43 species of butterfly and moth larvae, including the luna moth.
