Job Description
Arthur’s Point Farm is hiring an Agroforestry Manager to expand our orchards and other agroforestry systems, and to manage ecological restoration areas (forests, riparian zones, and pollinator habitats) around the farm. A rapidly changing climate and broad ecological degradation call for new approaches to agriculture and land stewardship. Integrating tree crops and other perennial plants into the farmscape builds resilience to extreme weather, protects soil and water resources, and provides habitat for native fauna.Â
Our farm’s commitment to climate-resilience, agroforestry, and ecological restoration is central to our business as a state-licensed nursery and our work establishing orchards and ecological plantings. We grow native and naturalized bare-root and potted plants selected for these purposes and not widely available at most plant nurseries. To date, we have planted thousands of trees for production and ecological purposes around the farm, with plans to expand significantly in the years to come.
Scope of Work & Responsibilities
The Agroforestry Manager will work with the Managing Director, Nursery Manager, and Field Manager to grow and manage the existing orchards, develop orchard production plans, manage and design on-farm ecological restoration projects, provide consultancy to other clients, and assist in the nursery operations. - Plan, install, and manage existing and new orchards, other agroforestry systems, and ecological restoration areas;
- Work with the Field Manager and farm crew to ensure the following tasks related to agroforestry and ecological restoration projects are completed: land preparation, planting, seeding, composting, mulching, fertilizing, irrigation, weeding, mowing, and pest/disease management;Â
- Manage and review the work of a forester hired to develop a forest management plan for the farm;Â
- Assist Nursery Manager in planning and tasks related to nursery plant propagation, care, and sales; and
- Provide consulting services to farm clients related to agroforestry and ecological restoration projects.
Experience & Qualifications
We seek candidates with forestry and agricultural training and experience, knowledge of native plants and ecological systems of the region, and experience managing field crews. Candidates must be clear communicators, detail-oriented, self-motivated, comfortable managing people, and able to work both individually and as a member of a team. Specific qualifications and experience desired include the following:

- Experience operating farm equipment, tools, and machinery; and
