Swida sericea
Red Osier Dogwood is beautiful throughout the season. Its roundish, smooth leaves give way to colorful foliage in the fall. In the winter, its bright red twigs are revealed, providing a pop of color against a snowy backdrop. Butterflies visit its clusters of small white flowers in early summer and birds flock to its whitish fruits in August. This shrub can spread and is a great choice for stabilizing soil along a stream. It can also be easily maintained as a standalone shrub in your garden. Larval host for Spring Azure and Summer Azure.
